Before works start the following should be considered and discussed with the Street works Team.
1. Detailed programme of works submitted prior to any works start.
2. No Narrow trenching – all should be traditional, over head or open cut.
3. No HiTex material to be used in York (historically not effect and now defective).
4. Contact for 2/4hr defects on site & defective reinstatements. All defects will be rectified as per the codes of practice.
5. Overstays and extensions only granted on engineering difficulties, explanation required at time of submission.
6. All sample inspection figures to be agreed prior to works starting to cover next performance period as per Street Manager and CoP.
7. Early start requests are at HA discretion and generally not given unless permits have already been submitted and granted, not to be used for poor planning. The same applies for emergency/immediate works permits must detail the extent of the emergency as per the CoP.
8. Lengths of open works are no more than 100m, backfill and reinstating after 50m as works progress. Dependant on location.
9. No double f/w closures on streets, access for peds and cyclist to be considered in all instances.
10. Spoil to be removed where possible and not left on the street.
11. NJUG vol 4 in relation to trees in the public highway within City of York to be used at all times, recommended toolbox talk for site operatives.
12. Cable depths to be no less than 250mm f/w and 450/650mm in c/w. (HWs construction of f/w is laid to 220mm). If on inspection cable is not being laid to agreed depth during build, a trial hole will be req by the HA 10m behind, to see if it has been laid to depth. Marker taping to be use.
13. SLG must be compliant to NRSWA, CoP for Inspections and HAUC guidelines at all times.
